What I wore on the Slopes

Sorry for being a bit quiet over the last couple of weeks, but I was away skiing in Italy which led to me getting a cold and feeling a bit under the weather. I'm better now though and to make up for the silence I thought I would write a few different posts relating to my trip, including some photos taken.

This first post is all about what I wore for skiing and will hopefully offer a few tips! I've been going skiing every year for the last eight years and every so often I feel a need to change my ski wear. I decided this time I wanted a ski jacket that I would look equally good on the slopes as off them but I didn't want to spend a fortune. In the past I have found the Galleria in Hatfield to be a good bet for ski wear as there are several specialist shops there, including Mountain Warehouse  and Tog24 so I headed up there to see what they had. I wasn't disappointed, especially as they were running a 10% off promotion on all ski shops, extra savings are always good!

I ended up buying this fabulous grey ski jacket, it’s feather and down so nice and warm, plus as it is shaped it looks great with jeans too, as you can see from the pictures. As I wanted to stand out on the slopes I teamed it with these bright pink ski trousers both from Mountain Warehouse. I also bought a softshell jacket from Tog24 to wear as a base layer under the jacket.

Now that I looked stylish on the slopes I needed to work out the rest of my ski wear including base layers. It turned out that as my coat was warm and that it wasn’t too cold on the slopes between -2 and 0c all I needed was a short sleeved thermal, I wore a mix of Uniqlo’s Heattech tops and some similar Primark tops from a couple of years ago and a softshell jacket, I like these jackets as the block the wind and if it is too hot I can unzip them. Under my trousers I wore a pair of Heattech leggings, which I pulled up to the top of my boots so they didn’t rub, a useful tip I was once given. On my hands I wore either North Face Gloves similar to these or when it was cold these Barts Mittens, I discovered mittens a couple of years ago when after a day of freezing on the slopes the ski shop recommended getting a pair, they are much warmer as your fingers radiate heat to each other. To finish off I wear a fleece neck warmer which keeps the wind out and on days when it was colder or windy I wore a fleece headband over my ears to keep them extra warm under my helmet.

So that's my ski wardrobe, do you ski? If so what do you like to wear in the slopes?
