Valentine's Dinner with Friends

Being single it was nice to forget about Valentine’s Day and enjoy a dinner party at a friend’s house with other single friends. Not a loved up couple in sight, just good food, good wine and great company, I can’t think of a better way to spend the evening! As it was Friday night I knew everyone would make an effort and dress smart, and I had just bought the perfect dress.

Earlier in the week I agreed to join up with Blinds Supermarket to celebrate Radiant Orchid being the colour of the year. With this in mind I hit the John Lewis website looking for outfits and items in pink or purple, whilst one item I bought wasn't quite the right colour it was inspired by it. I have to say I love John Lewis and the fact that I could order one day and pick it up from my local Waitrose the next afternoon, its so easy!

This item was a dress by Planet, it was in the sale and cost just £29 down from the original £89. I love the lines of the dress and the black textured panels down the sides make it really flattering. It looks much better in real life than I thought it would from the pictures. I realised I had the perfect shoes to go with it too, they were a sales purchase a few years ago from KG, I love them but as they are so high I rarely wear them. Being the same colour as the dress and the fact that I was going to be sitting down all evening meant I just had to wear them.

In addition to the dress I also bought this Fat Face Kelsey Cardigan which was £45, the colour of which is a closer match to Radiant Orchid. This is a great everyday cardigan and as you can see it goes perfectly with bootleg jeans and my tan Marks and Spencer Indigo boots. Whilst it is a cotton mix it has a cosy feel great for the wintery days we are having at the moment.

Any way I have gone off subject a bit there with my purchases. What did you do for Valentine's day? Did you have a romantic evening with your partner? Drown your sorrows at being single? Or was it just a normal day?
